Anna Michniewicz studied at the PWSSP [The Academy of Fine Arts] in Wroclaw and next at the Faculty of Painting and Artistic Fabric at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw. Her works can be found at numerous prestigious collections in Poland and abroad. Throughout my whole conscious “life with fabric” I have collected various materials, often being surprised by their texture, form and colour. I bought out production leftovers from textile mills liquidating their stocks such as the remnants of unique creations produced in the silk mills of Milanowek or jacquard cloths from the former textile factory of Zyrardow. I also collected old materials such as lace, hand-embroidered fragments of clothing, pillows, pieces of once fashionable Silesian scarves and kilim tapestries. My most recent works are the result of organising “my own collection”, an attempt at systemizing, finding a common denominator – combining the old with the new.
